Friends of South Park (FOSP)

South Park was donated to the people of Macclesfield by Councillor William Frost in August 1922. The park is managed by Macclesfield Borough Council.

The Friends of South Park was set up in 2004, in partnership with Macclesfield Borough Council to seek to improve, develop and revitalize South Park as a social amenity for the people of Macclesfield.

Primarily, FOSP aims to act as a voice on behalf of local residents and park users, to involve young people in the re-development of the park and to obtain the necessary, and undoubtedly substantial, funding which is required to make the improvements identified by its members.

FOSP is represented by a small committee which meets regularly with a representative from Macclesfield Borough Council and a local councillor to discuss projects and activities and issues pertinent to the redevelopment of the park.

FOSP organizes a small number of activities within the park to raise its profile, fund raise and to extend the opportunity for local people to get involved.

Membership of FOSP is open to any interested individual.
